FORMER KURIA MP IS DEAD

 On Saturday of 19th February, 2022, The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the sudden death of Hon. Dr. Wilfred Gisuka Machage.

The Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Machage, collapsed at his home in Abuja, Nigeria after lunch and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The late ambassador Wilfred Machage was appointed High Commissioner to Abuja, Nigeria by president Uhuru Kenyatta in January, 2018.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday of 20th February, 2022 extended his condolences to the bereaved family. In his condolence message, the President eulogised the departed Machage, 65, as a seasoned politician, consummate diplomat and committed public servant who served the country with distinction and utmost dedication.

"I received the shocking news of the sudden death of my friend and our country's ambassador to Nigeria Dr. Wilfred Machage last evening with disbelief." President Kenyatta said.

The President went ahead to describe Mr. Machage as a selfless person and shall be remembered for his many years of public service over the years as a politician, medical doctor, cabinet minister and a diplomat who worked tirelessly for the well-being of Kenyans.

“As a politician, Dr Machage was a relentless advocate of the interests of wananchi especially Kuria and Migori residents that he represented in the National Assembly and Senate respectively". President Kenyatta added

Mr. Machage was a two term Kuria Districts MP, former cabinet minister and in 2013 to 2017 he became a senator in Migori County.

The Kurian politician will be remembered by Kurian community and Kenyans at large for his positive contributions that brought developments to Kurian community.
