BEGGARS INNER MOST DIFFICULT LIFE
Begging is a very real problem
that most countries in Africa and the rest of the world faces. It is a
significant problem in the society that needs to be solved. Many are found
begging at roadsides or in front of temples, mosques and churches hoping that
someone would help them meet their daily needs. They often disrupt the
neighborhood that they beg in and some people drop coins for them not out of
pity but to send them away. Beggars have
specific places where they spend their time asking for money from passersby.
The main reason for begging is
poverty. Beggars have no assurance of getting food daily, much less clothing or
any other necessity. They are ever seen walking around in barely old rags. Most
often go scavenging in rubbish to get food or anything worth that can make
money for them. Spend day and night in streets fighting for their daily
survival.
Sickness is a worrying threat to
these families of beggars. Many have died of preventable diseases such as
malaria and cholera due to lack of proper medication and health insurance
covers. Beggars have been denied the right to affordable medical services by
the conditions they find themselves in.
Most beggars find themselves
engaging in criminal activities. They steal from people so as to get money purposely
for their needs. Criminal beggars have ended up being imprisoned leaving their “un
stabilized” families to a more pathetic situation.
The tales of these people are
often heart breaking but not as it looks. Many individuals amass a lot of money
and wealth after begging for years and years but chose not to do anything with
it. They simply collect the donations and continue begging instead of leading a
different life. They beg and raise their children in this environment without
even sending them to school. This kind of beggars seem to enjoy this life of
getting money without necessarily working for it.
Everyone deserves a second chance
in life. Beggars too, deserves a life comfortable like others where there is
assurance of daily necessities. Active steps must be taken to help beggars and
grant them opportunities. In this manner, therefore, their need of begging can
be slowly put to an end so that cycle of beggary stops and does not continue
with another generation.
