TOXIC RELATIONSHIP IN CAMPUS
What is toxic relationship. Does everyone have a toxic relationship. Toxic relationship is one that makes someone feel unsupported, misunderstood, demeaned or even attacked.
Campus students all over the world have been affected with this kind of relationship in one way or the other. In universities, students have time to explore dating. They use social media platforms to express and communicate their feelings.
In these institutions, getting into toxic relationship is very easy due to peer pressure around and other challenges such as unstable financial situation among students.

The student finds him or herself in a bad group and feels comfortable when with handsome guys or beautiful ladies. Others tend to seek dangerous groups but authority and power in the institutions.
Most students find themselves into these toxic relationship so as to obtain money to cater for their own needs. They are introduced into these groups by people who seem to be good and nice to them and later realize that they are exposed to illegal and bad activities which generates them an extra coin to their pockets.
The dangerous part of it is that one cannot easily identify a toxic person who may ruin their future. When these toxic people approaches a person, they look good and less dangerous and later the one when you have built relationship with them, you realize they aren't suitable to be your friend or partner.
In Kenya, most of the time is when we hear or watch through social media that a campus student has been killed or committed suicide due to unhealthy relationship. Others get arrested alongside the group working for involving in criminal activities.
Recently, on 19th January 2022, media stations reported how a campus student died in a love row in Kiambu.
A 20-year-old student from Kirinyaga University lost his life after failing from third floor of an apartment in Kiambu. Taylon Mbutia, a second year student in the mentioned university, while drunk tumbled on the ground floor and died on the spot. This is after they had gone for a drink with his girlfriend and her girl's boyfriend.
This shows you how these toxic relationship are dangerous among university students.

You are among the campus students who do not know whether you are in a right relationship or a toxic one. Then here are a few signs that will guide you into identifying yourself.
In a toxic relationship;
One do not feel safe.
You have bad communication.
You feel neglected and exploited.
You feel like you have lost yourself.
You feel belittled and ashamed.
You are playing a dysfunctional role.
You feel controlled or manipulated.
It is advisable to be smart when choosing people whom you want to have any kind of a relationship; be it friendship or a romantic one. Do not be quick to get in any relationship.
Lastly, avoid bad company which may pressurize to do evil deeds.
